Inside Singapore’s pilot trade show: Travel Revive

Marina Bay Sands’ new hybrid broadcast studio hosted Travel Revive in November, the first international travel trade show to take place physically in Asia Pacific during the Covid-19 pandemic.

As part of Singapore’s roadmap for re-opening to the MICE market, the pilot exhibition tested the destination’s new hybrid prototype for safe business events.

At the two-day event, close to 1,000 local and international attendees gathered to exchange ideas, bridge knowledge gaps and reimagine the future of travel.

ITB Asia and Singapore Tourism Board (STB), which organised the exhibition, implemented rigorous, yet unobtrusive protocols, along with innovative solutions, to ensure the safety and wellbeing of participants for every stage of an event attendee’s journey – from arrival in the country through to the hotels, venues, and on to departure.

Safe management measures included rapid Covid testing with results within 15 minutes, crowd density control, separating attendees into small cohorts, social distancing, contact tracing, spacious meeting booths with plexiglass, and a mobile app to book meetings between buyers and exhibitors.

Safe Itineraries were piloted during Travel Revive for groups of four or five delegates and offered a tailored approach to experience the best of Singapore, with river rides through Singapore's iconic districts, tours discovering architectural wonders of the city and the best of the local cuisine, all under safe management measures.
