What I realised after watching The Matrix

Calum Di Lieto, Editor of C&IT, reflects on the long-term future of events when sci-fi becomes reality.

This weekend I noticed that The Matrix Trilogy was trending on Netflix. It had been a while since I’d seen the sci-fi films and so I thought I’d plug myself in.

For those that haven’t at least seen the first one (I’m judging you), it’s about a future where humans are born plugged into a computer programme that is a simulation of the world we know. They live their entire lives in this artificial world, believing it to be reality when actually their bodies are in vats, being used as batteries for a world of advanced machines.
