Should large-scale events adopt the use of COVID passports?

Calum Di Lieto, Editor of C&IT, asks the controversial question around proof of vaccinations at events.

The IMEX Group recently published its full COVID-safety plans and entry requirements for IMEX America in November at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.

Part of which includes the requirement for attendees to provide proof of a full vaccination against COVID-19 in order to gain entry to the show. This is fairly ‘on trend’ for North America, but has still managed to cause some controversy it seems.

Those against the COVID passport rule believe that it creates a form of segregation and that it excludes anyone that has chosen not to take the vaccine. An argument that was mirrored by a large number of the UK public after the Government said it would introduce the same rule for entry into nightclubs.
