How hustle culture is toxic to the events industry

Hustle culture could be leading to burnout among event professionals and slowing down productivity, says psychotherapist Mike Delaney.

Anybody that has Instagram or TikTok will be aware of ‘hustle culture’, which refers to people feeling pressured to work tirelessly, without rest, and to be constantly making money and being productive.

“The irony surrounding this trend is that studies have shown constant internal stress and feeling like we are not doing enough actually leads to a decrease in productivity, as we have unrealistic expectations for ourselves,” says Mike Delaney, a psychotherapist and Chief Executive at Delamere Clinic.
