Four event lessons from The Met Gala
Last night's Met Gala was both a visual spectacle and a chance for planners to re-examine their own work.
Regularly dubbed the ‘party of the year’, the annual fundraiser started after the close of the second world war in 1948, becoming the place to ‘see’ and ‘be seen’ by the fashionista set.
This year's ‘Garden of Time’ theme was intended as a poignant reminder of the need to preserve our planet for future generations. Interpretations ranged from the sublime to the ridiculous with 3-D florals sweeping the red carpet shaped as anything from mushrooms to mosquito nets and everything in between.
For event planners there are several lessons to be learned, from pinning down that all important theme to ensuring you're not just greenwashing.
