10 easy ways to improve accessibility at your event

As togetherness is one of 2023's top event priorities, here are 10 simple ways to improve accessibility and inclusion at your event.

1. Design inclusion into your event. Be intentionally selective with venues and suppliers that you choose to engage with.

2. Have detailed and consistent communication. When signposting and typing out reader notes, use comic sans on a yellow background: this is the most reader friendly and increases accessibility for everyone immediately.

3. Implement a strategic use of tech. This gives attendees agency and choice, such as adding live captioning. Not only is this inclusive for the hearing impaired audience, but for those watching remotely where they can’t have the sound on, or live audience members who are taking notes and missed what was just last said - small changes like this increases accessibility across the board.
