Tokyo 2020 Olympics: Behind the scenes of the hybrid studio

A look at how BBC Sport’s studio works and the technology behind the global broadcast of the live event.

Due to travel restrictions and uncertainty, the BBC Sport studios were set up in the UK despite appearing to be in Tokyo.

Using the same technology many event planners have had to adopt for their hybrid events, the global broadcaster successfully managed to make viewers believe the team were there at the live event in Japan, rather than Salford.

One of the presenters for The Games, Dan Walker, recently uploaded a behind the scenes look at the studio on his TikTok which has rapidly amassed over 340,000 views.
