CloseRachael Firth is the Head of Events and Conferences at Universities UK. She is responsible for a growing portfolio of Higher Education conferences, political engagement and relationship building events.
As a membership organisation that is not for profit Rachael’s main focus is on revenue generating conferences which provide a vital funding stream to the organisation. Her remit also covers events such as roundtables, dinners and parliamentary receptions with the objective of furthering the organisations strategic aims.
Prior to joining UUK Rachael worked in a mixture of corporate and the not for profit sector with 3 years at emap conferences, 3 years as the Deputy Group Head of Events at NUS and then Logistics Director at a small specialist energy conference company.
She most recently had a year at ITV project managing, among other things, The Big Think, winner of the Best Conference or Internal Staff Event at the Event awards 2014.
Now in her 14th year of working in events she is still driven by keeping everyone happy at all times, including herself.
Her extra-curricular activities include being a trustee at Bedfordshire University’s students union and training for an Ironman.
Matthew joined the London Cvent team in September 2014, bringing with him over 12 years’ experience in the technology arena. Oxford graduate Matthew is passionate about technology innovation and relishes in introducing new technology to the events industry. Cvent is the world’s largest event technology company, over 157,000 users leverage their integrated software globally. As a senior member of the UK Cvent team, Matthew is responsible for growth in the UK and Europe.
Prior to Cvent Matthew was sales manager for Vocus, a multinational award winning provider of cloud-based marketing and PR software, where he introduced some of EMEA’s largest enterprises to the benefits of integrated technology. He also headed up Group Operations for Consolis Systems Ltd, a group of technology companies for corporate communications. His technology sales career began with Cardpoint, where he was a key member of the senior management team; contributing to the retail solutions provider’s substantial growth from start up to a £120 million European market leader.
When not educating the events industry on the benefits of technology and intelligently automated systems, Matthew can be found with his camera taking street portraits and nocturnal landscapes to add to his portfolio. He is an internationally published photographer, having had his images used by Canon, Epson, Sky, Lonely Planet, Elle and Marketing Week.
