Expo 2020 will beam AI-written poetry to alien worlds

An artificial intelligence that can write poetry will form the centrepiece of the UK Pavilion installation at the delayed Expo 2020 Dubai, which will now run from October 2021 to March 2022.

An installation that was inspired by the Stephen Hawking project to search for alien life beyond the solar system will be at the heart of a visitor experience and journey that begins and ends outside of the Expo 2020 Dubai.

Avantgarde’s Stuart Bradbury, who is the managing director of the global brand experience agency and Ian Bushell, who is project director, reveal the agency’s involvement in the production of the project.

Bradbury and Bushell discuss how the idea was first conceived as well as the technical, computational and logistical challenges of pulling off such an ambitious design.
